Spirit-EEL is a demonstration satellite constellation for Basalt's satellite operations workflow, designed and built in San Francisco, California. The mission will be the first space mission by a private company to fly without dedicated human operators, which accounts for 90% of the cost of conventional space systems.

Capabilities
Basalt's Spirit-EEL represents a fundamental shift in satellite design, from hardware-centric to software-defined. Software enables Basalt to reprogram Spirit-EEL in-flight, which allows multiple mission profiles set by clients reducing the cost and risk for customers building their own satellite missions, or testing a new data workflow - direct from space.
